Altoona Police Department
The Altoona Police Department faced a challenge with limited storage space for their growing volume of evidence. Their existing evidence room had become overcrowded, prompting the need for a building addition to accommodate the increasing storage demands.
As the department’s operations expanded, the current space was no longer sufficient. The city planned to build an addition specifically for evidence storage, but the costs and space requirements for a larger structure posed a challenge. The department needed a solution that would maximize storage efficiency while allowing for future growth, without requiring a much larger and more expensive expansion.
After meeting with the architect from EADS Group and collaborating with the DSS team, the solution was clear: high-density mobile shelving for evidence storage. The Spacesaver Mechanical Assist Mobile with Evidence Lockers system allowed the department to double their storage capacity without expanding the building. By using this mobile shelving, more items could be stored in less space, reducing the need for a larger addition. This solution not only met the department’s current needs but also positioned them for future growth.
Through collaboration with the Altoona Police Department and EADS Group, the final solution saved both costs and space while improving the efficiency of evidence storage and retrieval. The project was a success, effectively saving costs and space while enhancing the efficiency of evidence storage and retrieval.
